A challenge has been set for the Year 5 class.  It has been created through their involvement and acknowledgement of a need during Clean up Australia Day in early March 2019.  

So as to maximise engagement the challenge will be toward the end of Term 1 to incorporate Global Recycling Day on March 18. It is to be undertaken in small groups as per (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority [ACARA], 2019). “Students work individually and collaboratively to identify and sequence steps needed for a design task. They negotiate and develop plans to complete design tasks”and to pose the question ‘What is the responsibility of the manufacturers of the coffee cups in relation to sustainability and to our environment?’
